It's all in the packaging.

How many times do you travel down the frozen food section of your neighborhood grocery store, and purchase the dinner in the plain white box?

If you're like most people, probably not too often, if ever. The product in the white box may be far superior to other ones with beautiful photos and flamboyant graphics, but still, you pass it by, and choose the ones with the colorful packages.

Marketing in general is much the same. If a company that is far superior in goods and services to its competition exhibits unprofessional and sloppy advertising and marketing materials, chances are, they will not go nearly as far as the competition that has a terrific ad and marketing campaign and well-designed sales materials.

Every business needs effective graphic design in some way shape or form in order to succeed. From the inception of the company logo, to letterhead, to advertising, to company brochures, to web site, and on and on...solid graphic design is a key component. In addition, the look and style of all these pieces must be consistent in order to convey a professional image.

However, creative and professional design is only the beginning of what a graphic designer can do for a company's business.

A professional graphic designer must also be very marketing savvy, and must be able to pin down the client's target market AND be able to project a "style" that will not only capture the attention of that market, but also drive home the intended message.
